Enhancing Al Rahila’s Fuel Distribution Fleet
Al Rahila, a leading fuel distribution and marketing company in Libya, turned to our expertise to expand and upgrade their fleet of fuel transport trucks. Recognizing our deep industry knowledge and understanding of the region’s unique logistical challenges, they entrusted us with delivering a solution tailored to their specific demanding operations.
Fuel deliveries in Libya often require drivers to travel to remote stations over 1,000 km away, navigating harsh environments characterized by extreme temperatures, fine yet highly abrasive sand, and limited maintenance infrastructure. To meet these challenges, we partnered with experienced manufacturers to design and fabricate custom tractor trucks and fuel semi-trailers built for durability, simplicity, and reliability.
Key design enhancements included:
· Increased fuel autonomy – Tractor trucks were equipped with 600+ liter fuel tanks to support long-haul journeys.
· Enhanced durability – Strengthened chassis and reinforced articulated leaf spring suspension for resilience in rough terrain, while maintaining ease of repair in remote locations using simple workshop equipment which is universally available with a bias for heavy duty, over engineered, improved physical protection for exposed elements.
· Simplified mechanics – Reduced reliance on electronics in favour of greater mechanical durability, reliability and ease of maintenance. Choice of proven, reliable and dependable engines and drive trains, as well as larger cooling elements like radiators and intercoolers.
· Improved driver amenities – Larger toolboxes, larger water storage tanks, and huge cubby boxes to provide drivers with essential storage space, recognizing that they effectively "live" on their rigs and consequently need to carry a lot more with them. Custom fitted cabins for enhanced driver comfort and safety.
· Optimized traction and stability – A more pronounced 5th wheel weight bias and placing of rear axles for improved traction and handling. Rerouting fluid lines and linkages to provide better protection and reduce downtime.
· We also developed custom livery to align with Al Rahila’s branding and operational identity.
Winning this project against major International competitors underscored our ability to deeply understand client specific and particular needs, navigate complex operational challenges, and collaborate with the right manufacturers to deliver a superior, tailored and dependable solution. This project stands as a testament to our commitment to excellence in one of the world’s most demanding logistics environments.
